Eligibility

  • Nationals of non-EU member states or Schengen area countries.
  • Clean criminal record.

  • €2,000,000 invested in government bond
  • €1,000,000 philanthropic donation (It can be for public interests in culture, education, immigration, scientific research, and preservation of cultural and natural heritage.)
  • €500,000 invested into an Italian limited company.
  • €250,000 invested into an innovative start-up

Elective Residency Visa

The Elective Residency Visa is for non-EU citizens willing to relocate to Italy and can support themselves financially.

Eligibility

If you are a non-EU citizen and meet the following requirements, you can apply for the Elective Residency Visa:

  • The age is at least 18 years.
  • Proof of sufficient financial resources to support yourself without working.
  • Proof of at least 31,000 euros in savings, 38,000 euros for a married couple is required. 
  • Evidence of suitable accommodation in Italy.

***Be aware that under the elective residency visa, you are not allowed to work in Italy***
